Our own unique collection of flavor oils that have been designed especially for use in lip applicatons. And, yes, they can be used in massage oils too!
The following flavor oils are generally used at 3%. Multiply your lip balm weight (or massage oil weight) by .03 and the resulting number is the weight of flavor oil you should add. Please note that the food grade essential oils listed below are used at a much lower percentage. Strong flavored essential oils (like peppermint) are generally in the .5 to 1% range, while the top note, citrusy flavored essential oils are used at 1 to 1.5%. If you would like to know our experiences please drop us an email. We will be glad to share our results.
When testing the flavor of a lip balm start with the smallest recommended amount first. It is always easy to add a bit more but very difficult (read impossible) to take it away.
Discount Information: All essential oils in 16 fl oz sizes will receive a discount when ordered in 10 or more quantity. You can mix or match within the essential oil, fragrance oil and flavor oil sections to make up the 10 bottles. All will automatically discount in the online ordering system.

Chocolate Cream Flavor
|
MSDS |
INCI = Flavor
We have been asked for a good chocolate flavor for a long time. When we tested we found burnt tasting flavors or things we just knew weren't chocolate. It was frustrating for us to tell you, our customers, "I don't have any solutions for you." As we continued to work through variations of chocolate flavors we got this. Our staff was so thrilled they begged us to add it to the catalog. If you want proof, just call and ask Shelly. She works processing your orders and she knows just how fabulous this flavor is AND how often we are asked for a chocolate flavor. Use 2 to 4% in lip balm. Cinnamon Leaf Essential Oil
|
Recipes MSDS |
INCI = Cinnamomum Cassia Leaf Oil
Cinnamon is a better potpourri scent than a soap scent. The strong nature of cinnamon can be an irritant to the skin, so place your potpourri everywhere and scent your soap with something else. Cinnamon can also accelerate the trace of soap, in case you wondered. When blending with cinnamon we recommend clove, litsea cubeba and orange. When used in lip balms this flavor is fun but it should also be used lightly! When getting this much bang for your buck you have to appreciate the flavors and essential oils that are a bit stronger than the average. I don't know about you, but I think getting more scent out of less oil use means a real cost savings! We suggest making a test batch with 0.5% flavor added. Determine if this amount is suitable to you and increase, or decrease, for future batches. Steam distilled product of Sri Lanka. |
Clove Leaf Essential Oil

Recipes |
INCI = Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Leaf Oil

Steam distilled product of Indonesia. Lip balm makers: We suggest making a test batch with 0.5% flavor added. Determine if this amount is suitable to you and increase, or decrease, for future batches. |

Warm, vanilla, coconuty and wonderful! Use 2 to 4% in lip balm. For a batch of lip balm that makes 50 tubes (.15 ounces each) or 25 jars (.25 ounces each) use from 6 to 11 grams. No matter where your favorite roaster is located, a lip balm made witht his flavor is sure to be closer and not cause any sleepy nights. This flavor, straight out of the bottle, is a French roast with vanilla overtones scent. It does not make a sweet or flowery coffee scent in lip balm though. If you want sugar and cream added to your coffee, please add Vanilla-Banilla or Natural Vanilla and Sugar Kisses flavor oils to the mix. You will just need to decide if you want one lump or two! Enjoy!

Natural Vanilla Oil | |

INCI: Flavor or Fragrance depending on how you use this product.
This vanilla is wonderful! To keep the cost down a 35-Fold Vanilla is infused into fractionated coconut oil and contains other natural flavors as well. This product is oil soluble so you can make your lip balms with a fabulous real vanilla flavor. The color is clear to yellow liquid and is perfect for the natural market. Vanilla is intoxicating and delicious on its own but I can't wait to put it in lip gloss. Yummy! Due to the delicate nature of the vanilla orchid smell we do not recommend this item for soap making. We suggest it for massage oils, lip balms, body butters and other all oil mixtures.

Orange Essential Oil, Brazil
|
Recipes |
INCI = Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil
Orange essential oil is probably my most favorite because it has so many uses. Orange is used in many products for its light, refreshing scent. Orange, like other citrus oils, is a very volatile top note. Top notes evaporate faster than other fragrances and are often used at a higher rates. Use gloves when working with orange oil because it is a very effective solvent. Orange is also a unverisal blending scentwhich mixes with just about everything!
Lip Balm Use

Pipettes are often called droppers. Use these transfer pipettes to fill lip balm tubes, measure small amounts of fragrance, liquid colorants and more. Once you have these on hand, you will find even more uses.
The small dropper has a capacity of 3.5 mL, there are 5 mL in a teaspoon. Markings on the side will show each 1/2 mL increment. The large dropper has a capacity of 7 to 8 mL. This pipette does not have graduation marks on the size to assist measuring. I use these for large bottles of fragrance or essential oil that I need to get to the last few ounces (small pipettes don't reach to the bottom and it isn't fun to fish out a pipette that was dropped inside!). Pipettes are plastic and disposable. Both are very convenient and considered a must-have for the kitchen lab. Photo Note: The Large pipettes are shown with a small pipette for contrast. |
