We accept several different file formats. Please choose a file format and use the check off list to make sure your art work is ready to submit.
Files submitted as Customer Supplied Art will be printed as is. If the files come in and we notice a problem, we will print a hard copy proof and mail the proof to you for final approval. If you need to make changes you will be able to resubmit corrected artwork for a $15 resubmission fee.
Adobe® PhotoShop® files:
- the design must be created with 300 DPI (dots per inch)
- the layers must flattened to a single layer
- colors must be RGB, not CMYK or Pantone® colors
- for closest color matching use embedded Adobe® 1998 color profile
- a 0.1 inch bleed must be added to the finished label size, this means a 1.25 inch by 2.5 inch label will be setup as 1.35 inch by 2.6 inch canvas and image size.
- add a temporary cut line to your work using the Elliptical Marquee tool, select the shape of the label, then enter the width and height of the finished label size as you want it. Once the shape is on top of your label, select Edit and then Stroke and make this line 2 px in width. Center the temporary cut line over your work (either circle, rectangle or whatever). Now proof that your text is NO CLOSER than 0.1 inches from the cut line. After proofing your work remove this cut line layer.
- save file in PhotoShop® format (.psd)
Adobe® Illustrator® files:
- create “outlines” for all the text
- colors must be RGB, not CMYK or Pantone® colors
- for closest color matching use embed Adobe® 1998 color profile
- a 0.1 inch bleed must be added to the finished label size, this means a 1.25 inch by 2.5 inch label will be setup as 1.35 inch by 2.6 inch document and image size.
- add a temporary cut line to your work using the Shape tool, select the shape of the label, click once on the document, then enter the width and height of the finished label size as you want it. The stroke layer should be 0.01 pt. Verify the X and Y axis are exactly half of the image size which includes the bleed size mentioned above. Now proof that your text is NO CLOSER than 0.1 inches from the cut line. After proofing your work remove this cut line layer.
- save file in Illustrator® format (.ai)
IF: your files were already created with Pantone colors use the corresponding RGB color instead of the Pantone color.
IF: your files are submitted with CMYK as the color designation the final printed colors will NOT match because the colors will be converted to RGB.
IF: your design is submitted without a 0.1" bleed, then the label will be 0.1" smaller than your intended size. Check the design with a fake cut line by making a box (3 pt stroke) the actual label size. If this stroke line is too close to your text (text should be .1 inches away from the cut line) or design it may be cut off when the bleed area is cut off. Remember to remove this temporary box before submitting the design to us.
IF: you cannot save in one of these formats, then the we prefer that the file be saved as a tiff (.tif) or jpeg (.jpg) format. If you submit in a TIF or JPG format we cannot make changes to the file.
IF: you need assistance to manipulate your art work within Illustrator or PhotoShop we must charge design time ($60 per hour) to help you with the software. You might check the manual or a local class to gain an overall improved understanding of the software you are using.
IF: your files were submitted with incorrect information or set up and you need to resubmit the art work a $15 resubmission fee will be added to the order.
