Lovely Body Lotion - Summer Edition

Finished Summer Body Lotion

Finished Summer Body Lotion

We are fast approaching the lazy days of summer and I am dreaming of piling into my hammock with a good book and a nice cool glass of lemonade. It may still be a bit chilly to sleep outside right now here in Northern Utah but it doesn’t mean it can’t be in my plans! Today I want to make a creamy body lotion that will help keep the skin hydrated and soft without being overly heavy. Come join me!

I really love this lotion because even if you apply too much, you can easily rub it in. How do I know? I had an over excited six year old helping me test this lotion. He dipped a spoon into the lotion and before I could get a word in, plopped a big spoonful on my arm. While I typically follow the philosophy that a little goes a long way, I was pleased with how light this lotion is. I do not feel like I am leaving greasy fingerprints on my keyboard or my paperwork. I am super glad about that! I also feel like my skin is doing a good job at retaining its moisture without losing it quickly to the air. And the best part? My picky testing assistant liked it, too! He even asked for his very own jar.

If you have kids (or adults) who are picky about lotions or have ones who apply it all the time, I think this is a great option. It is light, easily rubs in and is very good at moisturizing! Come join me to make your very own batch!

Weighing Oils

Weighing Oils

Weigh everything except the fragrance oil and Liquid Germall Plus into a microwave safe container. Heat gently until the oils and waxes are liquid. Using an immersion blender, stir the mixture well. We don’t want the lotion to separate on us! Once the lotion is below 120°F, add the fragrance oil and Liquid Germall Plus.

At this point, I like to scoop my lotion into a plastic bag so I can pipe it into my jars. Once the jars are filled, cap and label them. Enjoy!
