INCI = Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax
Saponification Value: 50 mg KOH / g of Fat
This vegetable wax is used in lipsticks, lip balms, creams, lotions, salves, and body butters. It is often used as a substitute for beeswax in cosmetics and candle applications. The wax will cause a quickened trace in soaps, but excessive use can also soften the bar soap. The flakes are so easy to use. Try a lip balm or body butter with this cool new wax. When substituting Candelilla Wax for Beeswax in an existing recipe reduces the amount of wax by half since Candelilla Wax has twice the stiffening power of Beeswax.
If you need help to thicken a sugar scrub, please do this: to 1 pound (450 grams) of your oil mixture, add 1 to 2 grams of Candelilla Wax. Melt the wax into the oils and then allow it to cool. Use this premixed oil mixture as your formula requires. Also, see Beeswax or Carnauba Wax for other options. Candelilla Wax has a melting point of approximately 160 F.
