Orange Butter Lip Balm

As a little girl, I never could have imagined all the preparation that goes into Christmas. There are gifts to prepare, decorations waiting to be hung and gingerbread houses waiting to be made. While there are only 15 days left until Christmas and many preparations waiting to be made, I just wanted to remind you, dear reader, that there are many things that make the holidays special.
While gifts are often appreciated and enjoyed, sending a handwritten note can be just as special. See if you can share a hot drink with those important to you. As the temperatures drop, chatting over steaming mugs can be more special than anything else you can do. I personally have only a few gifts I remember as a little girl. But I do remember planning for Christmas breakfast. I remember my father walking over to the Christmas tree, reaching deep inside the branches and removing an errant kitten. I remember my mother bringing home a large box of oranges, their pebbly skins enticingly fragrant.
Some of my favorite quotes can be applied to family. In the movie “Lilo and Stitch” there is a line where they say “Ohana means family. Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten.” My other favorite quote is by Maya Angelou and is a good reminder that the gifts of time and knowledge are the greatest things you can bestow on another individual. “I’ve learned that people forget what you said, people forget what you did, but people never forget how you made them feel.” That is a powerful statement and also very true.
If the impending holiday has you stressed and worried, don’t worry. As we say around here, fake it ’till you make it. If you need help making a lotion, lip balm or salve with the materials you have on hand, let us know. We would be glad to be of assistance.
