Cotton Candy Cloud Lotion

Finished Cotton Candy Cloud Lotion

Finished Cotton Candy Cloud Lotion

The other morning I was driving into work and the roads were pretty foggy. The fog was really dense, making it hard to see. As I traveled down the road, the fog changed color from grey/blue to brilliant scarlet pink. I knew it was the sunlight making the fog pink but I had a great time imagining I was driving though cotton candy clouds. It was the perfect daydream to start the morning. Today, I wanted to make a lotion for that beautiful morning and bask in the glory of that child-like daydream. Come join me!

The first time I applied this lotion to my skin, I was struck by how little I applied and how much skin I was able to cover. I will be the first to admit that I apply a lot of lotion, head to toes. With a pea size amount of lotion, I was able to take care of my hands all the way up to my elbows. And the best part? I didn’t feel like I had to go back for more!

Just to forewarn you, this lotion is ultra fluid. You could even call it a body milk. It would be best to put this product into a bottle rather than a jar. You might even be able to put it in a spray bottle! If you want more of a cream consistency use either our Emulsifying Wax or Conditioning Emulsifier in place of the Cetyl Alcohol NF. While I do think I would make one of these variations for a thicker cream, I loved the silky and fluid texture of the recipe. It makes it really easy to apply and I think it is best used after a shower.

Weigh everything except the Liquid Germall Plus, Cotton Candy Fragrance Oil and color into a microwave safe container. Heat gently until hot. The mixture does need to be hot enough to melt our stearic acid. We recommend heating in 30 second increments. This way you can check on the mixture and avoid super-heating the lotion.

Heating Mixture

Heating Mixture

Using an immersion blender, mix the lotion. You don’t want to have a slick off oil on the surface of your lotion. Mix until no oil rises to the surface when it is allowed to sit. Allow the mixture to cool below 120 F before adding the preservative, Cotton Candy Fragrance Oil and Purple Raspberry Color. Transfer the cooled lotion in your container, label and enjoy!
