Orange Butter Lip Balm

I’ve been interested in trying to make a creamed or whipped body butter. We receive many questions about this product and I wanted to try it out. In the hot months of summer, it is hard to ship a creamed body butter as it easily melts. This can cause quite the dilemma when trying to ship samples and I left the project for a time that cooler weather would help, not hinder. This was a fast project to make, so let’s go check out the ingredients!
Shea Butter: I wanted to make this really simple and so I chose Shea Butter as it seems to be a common ingredient in creamed butters. Liquid Shea Oil: To follow the Shea Butter theme, I used Liquid Shea Oil as it allows for slight softening of the finished product and therefore, easier application. Vitamin E Acetate: I wanted to extend the shelf life of this product by slowing the oxidation process. Vitamin E Acetate was my first choice! Natural Vanilla Oil: Following my craving for baked holiday goods, I used Natural Vanilla Oil in this creamed body butter. Oh my! Collect needed items:
Recipe: (Makes 100 grams or 3.53 ounces)
Weigh all of the ingredients into the food processor bowl. Gently pulse the ingredients together until thoroughly mixed. Once the scrub is mixed together, fill the jars and cap. Notes: If you want to make a small batch, you can easily use a small personal blender like I did for these photos. I used a food processor attachment for a stick blender. |
