Using Cinnamon Red Hots Fragrance in Lotion?

Using Cinnamon Red Hots Fragrance in Lotion?

I love it when I try something unexpected, and it works out beautifully! Today, my task was to combine our newest fragrance oil with our latest lotion base. I was a little taken aback, though, when I realized that Cinnamon Red Hots is the newest fragrance. Hmmm. I wouldn’t have considered using this scent in a lotion. But it’s worth a try, right?

Cinnamon Red Hots lotion, anyone?

Our new base is Everyday Lotion Base. It is a paraben-free lotion that is thick enough to put into a jar but fluid enough to pump from a bottle. It is silky and deeply moisturizing without feeling greasy. That’s a win in my book. Check out some of the incredible skin-loving additives in this lotion:

  • Aloe Vera Juice
  • Green Tea Extract
  • Pomegranate Extract
  • Olive Fruit Extract
  • Kelp Extract
  • Noni Extract

It probably wouldn’t matter what fragrance you used – this lotion base would make anyone happy! But we are going to forge ahead with Cinnamon Red Hots Fragrance Oil and see how it smells and feels. We decided to use a lower usage rate of 1/2 fluid ounce of Cinnamon Red Hots Fragrance to a gallon of Everyday Lotion Base to have a softer scent. You can still use 1 fluid ounce of Cinnamon Red Hots Fragrance for a stronger scent.

This base comes in pails rather than jugs, which makes mixing easy. Just add the fragrance and stir, stir, stir to get it thoroughly combined. I like using a Soap Spoon for the initial mixing, but I turn to a flexible silicone scraper to finish so I could be sure all the lotion on the bottom and along the sides gets equally fragranced.

It turns out this is a fun fragrance for lotion! It really does smell just like Red Hots candies, cinnamon and sweetness. I kept expecting to feel a tingle on my skin, but it didn’t happen.
