How to Use Lip Solutions

Ingredients:

1 Lip Solutions Lip Balm Base
Lip Balm Pots or Lip Balm Tubes
Electric Frying Pan or saucepan fitted with wire rack
water
Transfer pipette, or pipettes
Flavor of your choice, see the Flavor Oils section of our catalog for usage rate recommendations.

Instructions:

If using an electric frying pan: fill 1/3 full with water. Turn on heat to \'simmer\' temperature. Open jar of Lip Solutions and place jar in electric frying pan. As water simmers in pan the heat will melt the Lip Solutions mixture. Stir with transfer pipette if desired, this can help melt the solution that is near the top. Once Lip Solutions is completely melted use transfer pipette to dispense solution into tubes or pots. Allow tubes or pots to cool then cap container.

If using a saucepan: fit pan with wire rack and fill 1/3 full with water. Place saucepan on stove and turn on heat to medium low. Open jar of Lip Solutions and place jar in sauce pan on top of wire rack. As water simmers in pan the heat will melt the Lip Solutions mixture. Stir with transfer pipette if desired, this can help melt the solution that is near the top. Once Lip Solutions is completely melted use transfer pipette to dispense solution into tubes or pots. Allow tubes or pots to cool then cap container.

NEVER LEAVE MIXTURE TO HEAT UNATTENDED!

If all of Lip Solutions mixture is not used remove the jar from the water and allow to cool. Once cooled replace the lid on the jar and store until later date. Repeat process above.

Adding a flavor:
Once Lip Solutions is completely melted add the flavor oil of choice. Start with the smallest recommended amount of flavor then increase as desired. Use a new transfer pipette for each flavor to prevent cross contamination. Once the optional flavor has been added and the mixture is completely melted it is time to dispense the solution into tubes or pots. Use a transfer pipette (not shared with the flavor oil bottles) to move the Lip Solutions from the jar to the tubes and pots.

Notes & Comments:

Tip: When filling lip balm tubes fill tube with solution to top of inside screw. Allow to cool for a few minutes and then finish filling. Try to create a dome of Lip Solutions on top of the tube. As the mixture cools the Lip Solutions will shrink and leave a beautiful smooth top with a slight indentation.

On occasion when a tube is filled completely with the first filling the shrinkage will cause a deep crack in the mixture down the center of the tube near the screw.

Glass droppers do not work as they are cooler and the Lip Solutions will set up inside the dropper making dispensing impossible.
