Chocolate Orange Body Butter

Chocolate Orange Body Butter

Ever since I saw the vibrant color and got a whiff of the intense scent of our Orange Butter, I’ve been craving a chance to create a luxurious body butter. My first thought was to pair the Orange Butter with Illipe Nut Butter, one of our featured products. Illipe Nut Butter is a brittle butter that I thought would work nicely to firm up the Orange Butter, which is about the texture of room-temperature butter.

Then I saw my favorite holiday candy in the grocery store – Chocolate Orange Balls. Have you seen these foil-wrapped globes of orange-infused chocolate? You whack the ball of candy on top and then peel back the foil to reveal chocolate segments that look like oranges and taste like heaven.

And then I knew what to do with Orange Butter.

I want to make a body butter that brings together chocolate and orange, and I don’t even need any fragrance oil, because Cocoa Butter has a delicious chocolate scent! And it’s a very hard butter like Illipe Nut Butter, so it will do double duty in adding natural stiffness to my body butter.

I could hardly wait to get into the kitchen and start creating, but I had to come up with a recipe. Thankfully, our blog archives have all sorts of wonderful recipes, and I found a simple body butter recipe by Taylor that I could tweak to use my desired ingredients.

Here’s the list of things to gather to make this delectable Chocolate Orange Body Butter:

30 grams Illipe Nut Butter
25 grams Emulsifying Wax
15 grams Stearic Acid
15 grams Hydrovance
15 grams Cocoa Butter
15 grams Orange Butter
2.5 grams Liquid Germall Plus
Recipe in Ounces (40 ounces)
30.6 ounces Distilled Water
2.4 ounces Illipe Nut Butter
2 ounces Emulsifying Wax
1.2 ounces Cocoa Butter
1.2 ounces Orange Butter
1.2 ounces Stearic Acid
1.2 ounces Hydrovance
0.2 ounce Liquid Germall Plus
Recipe in Percentages
76.5% Distilled Water
6% Illipe Nut Butter
5% Emulsifying Wax
3% Stearic Acid
3% Hydrovance
3% Cocoa Butter
3% Orange Butter
0.5% Liquid Germall Plus

Instructions:
Weigh all ingredients except Liquid Germall Plus into a bowl or beaker and microwave in 30-second bursts until ingredients mix together well. Mix after every heating burst. My batch took 1 minute to melt enough to thoroughly mix. Set mixture aside to cool to below 120 degrees; add Liquid Germall Plus and mix thoroughly. Put into your container of choice.

I’m very happy with the texture of this body butter! It is luscious and creamy, quickly soaks into my skin, and it has a lovely pale yellow hue. The scent is perfect! It is not overwhelming, but it is a clear and definitive chocolate orange. People who have an aversion to fragrance oils in their body care products would welcome this naturally scented formulation. Really, I bet anyone would love it! Even guys! One of my male cousins said he wanted to eat it because it smells so good. I think I’d better bake a chocolate orange cheesecake for him because though this body butter smells delicious, it’s definitely not nice tasting. (Yes, I rubbed a bit on my lips and licked to see if I could taste orange and chocolate. The answer is no, it has no flavor at all, darn it!)
