Making A Simple Massage Bar

Finished Massage Bar

Finished Massage Bar

There is great serenity in taking a moment for yourself. Whether it is in the morning, evening or sometime in the day, taking time to practice self care really helps with your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Today I wanted to make some massage bars for everyone who needs that moment. Come join me!

Weighing

Weighing Castor Oil, Cyclomethicone and Dimethicone

I really like this massage bar because it glides on smoothly without feeling greasy or heavy. After running the bar up and down my arm several times, I was pleased with how velvety my skin feels. It feels dewy and fresh! In fact, I almost can’t believe I just applied a massage bar. It is deceptively light. I am in love!

Weighing Waxes and Oils

Weighing Waxes and Oils

Weigh everything into a microwave safe container. Heat gently until everything is completely melted. This took about 3 minutes for me.

If you are familiar with making lip balms and other salves, you know that there is a point that the mixture will become crystal clear. DO NOT expect that from this mixture. This recipe can be 160°F and it will still be cloudy, even though everything is melted.

Heating Mixture

Heating Mixture

I recommend using your trusty thermometer for this project to prevent super-heating it. Stir the mixture well. Keep an eye out for anything that has not melted yet. If you see anything, keep stirring. The heat and the mild agitation with help your oils and waxes melt.

Fill the mini deodorant tubes and allow to cool. Cap, label and enjoy!
