Shea Oil & Squalane Cream

Shea Oil & Squalane Cream

We all know Shea Butter, but how familiar are you with Liquid Shea Oil?

This was a new ingredient to me, so I decided to make a cream with it, adding Almond Butter and Squalane Butter to round out my formula.

Liquid Shea Oil is a pretty greasy oil, but it absorbs into the skin quickly and feels super luscious.

Squalane Butter is dreamy! It brings extra luxury with velvety emollience and no greasy after-feel to products. Yes, please!

I chose Wild Mint & Ivy as a fragrance. It’s a sweet-smelling mint scent that is clean and makes me happy! Top notes include spearmint, frosty peppermint, and everything fresh! Middle notes are lavender and citrus. Base notes are woody, moss, and patchouly.

Gather up some supplies and equipment, and make this decadent cream along with me.

Blend thoroughly with the immersion blender until the emulsion forms. Check the temperature; cool to less than 120ºF, then add Liquid Germall Plus and Wild Mint & Ivy Fragrance. Stir well.

Scoop finished cream into a plastic bag, seal the bag, and cut off a corner. Pipe the lotion into jars and allow the cream to cool completely before capping.

Ingredients weighed before melting.

Using the immersion blender to mix.

Notes

This cream turned out to be a big surprise – it’s not greasy at all! I was a little concerned that the Shea Oil would make it greasy.

It has a nice consistency, not too stiff, but with enough body to easily scoop out of a jar. It definitely is not fluid enough to put in bottles.

Now I have a new favorite hand and body cream! I highly recommend you give this a try!
