Magic Tub Tea

Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching and I wanted to have some cute things ready. Valentine’s Day is all about love, more specifically, love between couples. But why can’t we show a little love to ourselves? Here is a fantastic milk tub tea that has a bit of magic added to it.

I think one of the best ways to slow down and take some personal time is to take a bath. Showers are are quick, fast and invigorating. Baths are slow, peaceful and calming. Because there is more time in an enclosed space, it is best to use very small amounts of fragrance. If it is too intense, the user may feel driven out before they are ready. Light and mild is best.

The first product in my formulation is Milk Powder. Milk Powder is simple and easy to use. Milk has also been used as a beauty agent for a very long time. Even Ancient Egyptians used milk in their baths! Because milk is a natural blend of fats and water, it is really good for the skin.

Next, I used Natrasorb. Natrasorb is a really, really fluffy form of tapioca starch. It helps keeps the bath tea from becoming oily from the extract and fragrance oil. It also helps the bath tea seem more fragrant than a bath tea without Natrasorb.

I also used Epsom Salt. These salts are wonderful. High in mineral content, Epsom salts have been long used for spa treatments such as baths and foot soaks. You can also use a sea salt but I have a personal preference to Epsom Salt.

Botanicals also make an appearance in this formulation. How can you have a tub tea without botanicals? I chose Rose Buds and Chamomile Petals. Roses are a luxury item that has been used in beauty products for as long as we have written record! Calendula has constituents that are anti-inflammatory in nature. Calendula is also used for managing dry, rough and scaly skin.

To give the skin a little more pampering, I added Chamomile Extract. Because of its famous soothing nature, I wanted a little to bolster the skin. Perfect for soothing both mind and body!

Finally, I added some fun finishing touches, a fragrance oil and some color. This is where the magic is. 🙂 I chose to use our Purple Raspberry Color in its dry form so that it would lightly color the bath water. Prior to adding water the mixture looks white, except for the botanicals. My fragrance oil of choice is Red Clover Tea. You may use any fragrance or essential oil for this recipe. Don’t forget to use a pretty ribbon!

Q.S. Purple Raspberry Color

Measure Milk Powder, Natrasorb and Purple Raspberry Color into a plastic bag. Mix well. Measure Epsom Salts, Red Clover Tea Fragrance Oil and Chamomile Extract into a separate bag and mix. In a third bag, weigh Calendula Petals and Rose Buds, then add the first two bags. Mix until uniform. Scoop into Heat and Seal Tea Bags. I like approximately 2 tablespoons of product per Jumbo Bag. Using an iron, seal the edges of the bag. Finish with a cute ribbon and label. Enjoy!
