Somali Rose Melt and Pour Soap

Today, I’m featuring a beautiful Somali Rose Soap. After the first sniff, I colored this soap pink and added glitter before I even read the online description. The catalog says “Somali Rose is a super subtle rose with soft chocolate, sandalwood, anise, musk and a twist of green moss. It is described as a masculine rose fragrance oil.” I adore this fragrance oil, but with rose in the name, I never would have thought of it as a masculine scent. I love this fragrance and I think it would be perfect for men or women.

Recipe: (Makes 48 ounces)

Recipe in ounces: 48 ounces Transparent Melt and Pour Soap Base 0.72 ounces Somali Rose Fragrance Oil Q.S. Purple Raspberry Color Q.S. Ultrafine Iridescent Glitter

Recipe in grams: 1360.80 grams Transparent Melt and Pour Soap Base 20.41 grams Soamli Rose Fragrance Oil Q.S. Purple Raspberry Color Q.S. Ultrafine Iridescent Glitter

Recipe in Percentages 98.5% Transparent Melt and Pour Soap Base 1.5% Somali Rose Fragrance Oil Q.S. Purple Raspberry Color Q.S. Ultrafine Iridescent Glitter

The first step is to cut and weigh the Melt and Pour Soap. Then microwave the soap using short bursts and stirring frequently because the last thing we want is burnt soap. (Ask Taylor about that.) Once the soap is completely melted, I added the fragrance, color and glitter. Usually when I think of rose scents, I think of light pink colors and so I only used a couple drops of the Purple Raspberry Color. I am pleased with the final color even after reading the description. I will admit that I’m not sure how much glitter I added. Whoops! I just kept going until it looked sparkly enough for me. Now you are ready to pour it into the soap mold and let it cool.

I would recommend waiting 24 hours before taking it out of the mold. Once the soap has been removed from the mold, it is ready to take to the bathroom and use. I love making batches of Melt and Pour Soap because I can give the bars away to my family and tell them I made it. Little do they know that it was so easy that I swear a monkey can do it. However, I don’t recommend letting a monkey make your soap. You don’t want the monkey fur in your finished soap! 😉
