The Dog Days of Summer – Part 3

The Dog Days of Summer – Part 3

Do you have a fluffy pup who loves to go looking for adventure only to find it in the form of weeds, burrs, and other plants? Unfortunately, many of us try to convince our four-legged muttcases to stay out of the weeds and they just give us a grin as they ignore us! After they are ready to come back, you have to remove all the burrs to prevent matting of the fur.

When these burrs get tangled in fur coats, everyone is miserable!

When these burrs get tangled in fur coats, everyone is miserable!

Today, I’m going to share a recipe for our favorite Poodle Poof detangler that will make brushing out burrs, seeds, and mats a simple task that won’t make you (or your pooch) grumpier than a wet cat. Just spritz the fur with Poodle Poof, use a comb or your fingers to work the detangler around the burr or seeds, and then watch it slip right out of the fur! Your time spent brushing and inspecting for burrs and other seeds can be cut in half, and that will make you and your pup happier!

It’s time to reclaim your summer, pour yourself a cold drink, and put your feet up after a day of adventuring with your dog.

Come join me in the blog kitchen to make this super easy recipe that you will swear by for all of your summer adventures!

While we used Awapuhi Seaberry to scent this Poodle Poof detangler, feel free to choose any scent that works for you and your pups!

Finished Poodle Poof Hair Detangler

To make this recipe I simply weighed everything into a beaker and then used an immersion blender to mix it together. If you notice that you can still see some oil floating on top, then that is completely normal. I found that if I added more of the Spray Clear Emulsifier, it would solve this problem, but it would leave the fur and hair feeling heavy and greasy. So I thought I would keep the recipe as is and add a label that says shake well before using. I would rather have that than heavy and greasy hair!

Note: Scent lightly! Dogs have a much better sense of smell than we do and you don’t want to make them miserable.
