Banana Lip Scrub

Yesterday as I was walking down the aisles of the MMS warehouse getting orders ready to ship, I came across our Banana Flavor Oil. We haven’t made a whole bunch with this flavor oil so I had almost forgotten that it existed.

This is one flavor oil that no one should forget about because it tastes and smells heavenly. This flavor has been presweetened so it is unlikely that you will want to add additional Sugar Baby Flavor; however, you are more than welcome to do so!

Here is a fun fact. Did you know that more songs have been written about bananas than any other fruit? I thought that was pretty interesting. Also, the scientific name for banana is Musa sapientum, which means fruit of the wise men. Be wise and add some Banana Flavor Oil to your next order!

The Banana Scrub Mixture

Top View of the Banana Lip Scrub

The first step in making this lip scrub is to weigh out the Shea Butter and Coconut Oil Fractions and heat it gently. I only had to microwave this mixture for about 45 seconds. You don’t want the oils to get super hot, just hot to enough to make it easier to mix. After melting, I added the sugar and mixed until it was fully incorporated. After all, you don’t want any sugar or butter clumps. Lastly, add the Vitamin E Acetate and the Banana Flavor Oil.

I’m really happy with how this recipe turned out. As I was spooning the scrub into the jars, it seemed very liquid but as it cooled it hardened and turned into a perfect, creamy texture. This scrub also has a very stong banana taste and smell, but that is exactly how I wanted it. I am going to send some samples over to the shipping department. If you get one in your order, please come comment and let me know what you think!
