Our apothecary style bottles are clear glass. If you desire to paint their outside surface we recommend craft paints intended for glass available at a local craft store. Then you can make the glass any color or design!
Our diffuser reeds are 12 to 12.5 inches long. They can pull up a fragrance to the tips in about 24 hours. We recommend 15 reeds per glass bottle. Our reeds are straight cut for a beautiful display. These reeds are rattan and not bamboo. Rattan reeds are the premium type of reed and work far superior to bamboo.
DPG, or dipropylene glycol, is used to slow the evaporation of the fragrance oil used in the bottle. DPG can also be used to "cut" an expensive fragrance to make these diffuser bottles more cost effective. We recommend mixing DPG at 2 fl oz and fragrance oil at 2 fl oz, then pouring this mix into a 4 fl oz Amber Glass Bottle. Then ask your customers to add the mixture to their diffuser bottle when they get home.
We like the apothecary bottle to have between 2 and 3 fl oz of scent mixture when we set the reeds inside. The bottles will hold 8 fl ounces total. We really like the look of a partially filled bottle. And, if the cat knocks the bottle over, little spilling will occur with a 2 to 3 fl oz fragrance mixture inside.
Please remind your customers that if they have been using an Almond, or any strong type, scent in their diffuser bottles and now want Strawberry, then the reeds should be replaced. Similar fragrances do not need replacement of the reeds when changing scents.
Corks are also available for the apothecary bottles. These corks allow for storage of salts or other products in the bottles.
Enjoy!
We now have DPG! Are you making one of the fabulous diffuser reed bottles? DPG mixed with your fragrance oil will slow the evaporation of the fragrance so the scent lasts longer. Straight fragrance oil may last only a month or two (depending on how much is added to the bottle) but DPG can slow the rate of evaporation so your scent may last 6 months or more.
For diffuser bottle people we recommend mixing DPG at 2 fl oz and fragrance oil at 2 fl oz into a 4 fl oz Amber Glass Bottle. Then ask your customers to add the mixture to their diffuser bottle when they get home. We like the apothecary bottle to have between 2 and 3 fl oz of scent mixture when we set the reeds inside. Please remind your customers that if they have been using an Almond scent in their diffuser bottles and now want Strawberry the reeds should be replaced. Similar fragrances do not need replacement of the reeds when changing scents.
And a few soapmakers have asked us to get DPG to help accelerate the trace of their soap (yes, they really do want it for that) so the slow batches can be sped up a bit. A little goes a long way!

Allantoin is a unique product that is used for skin protection. Allantoin is a white, odorless, crystalline powder.
Allantoin is also used to hasten the growth of new, healthy tissue. Allantoin increases the desirability of cosmetic creams and lotions by its action as a skin protectant. Allantoin has been used in various cosmetics like shampoos, lipsticks, shaving creams, suntan products, bath foams, hair gels, baby powders, as well as the typical lotions and creams.
Usage of Allantoin is from .5% to 2%. To add Allantoin into an emulsion product, the emulsion is made and then Allantoin is added during the cooling process, when the product is below 90 degrees F. Good mixing is required to thoroughly disperse the Allantoin.
The FDA has approved the following statements for non-prescription, drug products containing Allantoin at 0.5% to 2.0%.
PLEASE NOTE:
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration acknowledges that Allantoin at 0.5 to 2.0% concentration can be used for the prevention and treatment of chafed,
chapped, cracked, sunburned or wind burned skin or lips, cold sores, fever blisters and diaper rash, but considers such explicit claims as drug claims.
When Allantoin is added to a personal care product and no claims are made the product remains a cosmetic. Want our advice? Remain a cosmetic!
What is arrowroot? A food starch powder commonly used in body powders and deodorants. Arrowroot is an ideal alternative for talc in your favorite body powder recipes. Summer is always a time when sweat related rashes make all of us irritable, so powder away!
Citric acid is a must when making fizzing bath crystals. There is nothing more relaxing than getting ready for bath with an effervescent bath powder releasing a relaxing scent into the air. If you aren't sure how to make this simple bath salt mix then follow the recipe link for assistance and success. You'll love the results!
Clay in soap is awesome. I love the feel of a shaving soap with clay. Silky is how most people describe a soap with clay. Try a simple test batch, one with clay and the other without, now have friends and family comparison test your soaps. We hear all the time how people prefer clay soaps.
Another member of our clay family. Green Clay is commonly used in a variety of high end cosmetics and spa products. Clays were once believed to have the power of drawing out impurities and removing toxins from the skin. We just know it's a great additive to toss in our soap pots, for a different and unique twist on handcrafted bars.
This a great multifunctional additive. This powder like material is superb at combatting grease and dirt. Add a tablespoon per pound of fat to your favorite cold process soap recipe to create a great soap with abundant hand cleaning power. Take a bar to your mechanic next time your car needs some work, he might just give you a deal. Enjoy!
Our latest clay addition is PINK! Not stinky pink but a gorgeous color for all your face mask, soap and cosmetics. Truly beautiful!
Clays are well recognized for their ability to expand, a small amount of clay can absorb a significant amount of water. This proves to be an irreplaceable asset when creating masks and face muds. While most clays tend to have some degree of drying properties they are best suited for those skin types that tend to be more oily. Clays tend to want to clump when added to cold process soap. We have found it is easiest to incorporate by removing a small portion of soap before trace mixing the clay until all clumps are gone and then adding it back to your soap pot. Recommended usage is 1 teaspoon per pound.
Have you ever accidentally thinned a shower gel, lotion or cream to the point it just isn't what you wanted? Don't cry! This new thickener will rescue your overly thinned product. Add a SMALL amount of this liquid and stir it in cold. Don't worry about heating, while it can help keep a mixture crystal clear, heating isn't necessary. We most often hear of people who have added a fragrance to their shampoo base, shower gel or other product only to find the fragrance does an excellent job of thinning the final product. So, we are offering this new thickener to help boost the viscosity of your finished goods. Your skin will often have a conditioned feel when Crothix is used in rinse off products. Usage rate is generally 1 to 8%. Your product does not need added neutralization just because a thickener is added. Start at 1% and go up from there. We were amazed that so little is needed to actually thicken the final product significantly.

MMS continues to work hard for our customers and cyclomethicone is the perfect example. There are a ton of cyclomethicone varieties available and MMS has chosen one, specifically cyclopentasiloxane, as the variety that will best suit our cutomers.
Cyclopentasiloxane has a higher flash point so you can ship your room sprays or perfumes on an airplane without worry. Other vendors sell a cyclomethicone that can't even ship to you via airplane! Be wary, your safety, and the safety of others, is very important. For your reference the flash point is 170 degrees F.
Cyclopentasiloxane is the perfect balance between volatility (quick drying) and spreadability. We think it is great for hair treatments, bath oils, creams and lotions, room/linen sprays, and more.
Cyclopentasiloxane adds a soft, talc-like feel and is the base for superb dry perfume oils.
INCI labeling allows for the use of either name so please use the name most suited to your product and customer base.
This cyclomethicone is also known as Cyclomethicone NF.
Enjoy!

Dimethicone is also known as polydimethylsiloxane, or silicone oil. Silicone oils are derived from silica (quartz is a well known silica).
You are probably wondering what dimethicone can do for you.
Check this list out!
If no claims are made, dimethicone does not need to be listed as an active ingredient. And even better, your product and facility are not required to conform to OTC drug production standards. Taking our advice and staying a cosmetic? Then list ingredients in descending order of usage rates.

Aluminum free powder. Excellent for lotions, creams or powders. Yes, you read correctly that this product can be used in lotions (oil/water emulsions). The product will impart a silky dry feel so you can forgo the unpleasant heavy feeling of some cream formulations. We have used this product in various body cream recipes and are amazed with the results! A heavy greasy cream suddenly becomes lighter, less oily and velvety. A free-flowing powder. Easy to use! You can even use this in conjunction with arrowroot powder to make a talc replacement.
Recommended for creams, lotions and balms: 1 to 30%
Recommended for body powders: 5 to 80%
Have you been looking for luffa and wanted to keep your morning coffee, and your grinder, free from floating botanicals? Try our finely ground luffa!
Fine ground luffa is often used to create bar soaps with a cleansing abrasive. Can be added to facial or body scrubs. It's a natural way to exfoliate! We recommend a soap test batch of 1 lb of fat with 1 to 2 tsp of finely ground luffa. Don't think luffa is too expensive, the volume is HUGE in comparison to the weight making this additive very economical.
We now offer ground vanilla beans. After the process of extraction the vanilla beans are dried and ground. The ground bean we offer has a rich color and yummy aroma! Use in scrubs, soaps and muds. The fiber is a great natural exfoliant.
Our liquid glycerin is used for many craft items from preserving eucalyptus stems to making lotions and soaps. Our glycerin is cosmetic grade so you can rest assured your transparent soap is made from the best ingredients.
This is not a soap, it is an additive to make liquid or transparent soaps. If you need liquid soaps or transparent soap base please go to our Bases section.
Please note: this item is sold by weight. The 16 fl ounce bottle used to pack 16 oz of glycerin has enough head space for the addition of 2 ounces of colorant. Do not be alarmed by the headspace in this bottle. Instead of using a smaller bottle we chose to use this bottle to allow for ease while mixing colors.
Imagine a lotion you rub on your legs BEFORE the shower. No gloss, smooth legs, no dry patches, no sticky feeling. Just gorgeous legs. Now shower. When walking out of the shower you dry those legs and find they still feel like a million bucks! Still gorgeous, still soft, still smooth and no stickiness. That is what lotions containing Hydrovance can do! Lotions are super moisturizers for any time, not just before a shower like I love to do. I appreciate the super feeling on my skin. Use anywhere! I particularly like creams that I can massage into elbows, legs, arms and feet while relaxing from a stressful day. Replace the glycerin content in any recipe with Hydrovance. You will be so amazed by the long term moisturizing that Hydrovance has over glycerin.
Here is your challenge to find the true capability of Hydrovance in comparison to glycerin. Make two lotions from the same recipe, except one recipe uses glycerin and the other uses Hydrovance. Apply these lotions to your legs, one leg gets the glycerin formula, the other gets the Hydrovance formula. You can use before daily activity or before the shower as I like to do. Compare your legs after 1 hour, again after 3 hours. Which feels smoother? The Hydrovance leg does!
Use 1 to 20% in any recipe.

This wonderful additive is used to reduce the greasy feeling in lotions and creams. IPM can also be used in lip balms and lotion bars. In lotions this product is considered a dry effect emollient to the skin. This product can be used up to 10%. Here are some beginning recommendations for your products:
1 Gallon weighs approximately 7.08 lbs; 5 gallons weigh approximately 35.4 lbs.
Easy to weigh and less likely to fill the air with odor/fumes than a liquid product. We are sure you will enjoy this addition.
Store in a cool area with the cap tightly closed. Please plan ahead and order quantities when the weather is cool, this will prevent the crystals from melting in transit and resolidifying upon arrival into a large mass.
Oil soluble, natural product from peppermint.
This very fluffy powder is used for making bath products which appear as powders and will deliver fragrance or moisturizing oils in the bath. Make your salts more fragrant, your powders lighter and enjoy the water soluble natural starch which does it all! Use from 1 to 50% in your bath products like salts, tablets, bombs, balls and more. Enjoy!
We really mean fluffy! A 10 lb box of Natrasorb measures 18 * 13 * 12 inches! Imagine how much lighter your bath bombs will be when using this incredible oil absorbing starch.
An emulsifier for body sprays, and more! We have had many requests to add polysorbates to our catalog and in LARGE sizes. Well, many asked and we heard!
Polysorbate 20 is most often used to emulsify oil in water mixtures, where additional viscosity is desired. If you are having trouble with your emulsions remaining stable then polysorbate 20 is a great option. Use where little foaming is desired.
1 gallon weighs approximately 9 lbs; 5 gallons weigh approximately 45 lbs.
Derived from coconut oil.
An emulsifier for body sprays, and more! We have had many requests to add polysorbates to our catalog and in LARGE sizes. Well, many asked and we heard!
Polysorbate 80 is recommended for oil in water emulsions like creams and lotions. Choose this polysorbate when foaming or whipping is desired like whipped body creams or foaming soaps.
1 gallon weighs approximately 8.8 lbs; 5 gallons weigh approximately 44 lbs.
Derived from olive oil.
Our super fine pumice is fabulous for adding to your soaps or scrubs. Use pumice in place of sugar in any of our sugar scrub recipes to help remove calluses from your feet and knees. Make a liquid/paste soap with pumice for the resident grease monkey (I mean resident fix-it person) and wash away the grease and dirt. Gentle enough to use on legs and elbows, effective enough to prepare the dirtiest hands for a night on the town! Happy scrubbing!
Enjoy!
Epsom salts are also known as Magnesium Sulfate USP or (MgSO4.7H2O).
Named for mineral waters found in Epsom England, Epsom salts have long been used as a mineral water soak. Add a cup or two to warm bath water for a soothing spa treatment. Epsom salt can also be used in a salt scrub to exfoliate, cleanse and soften rough spots.
Our ground apricot seed is a delight to use in soaps. Just a little goes a long way. Melt and pour soap can have speckles throughout with just a small amount of ground apricot seed. Our favorite is a soap with bentonite and apricot seed.
Blueberries are my favorite berries. While they don't grow well in our alkaline soils I still have a special fondness for these luscious drops of wonder. Tiny purple seeds are great in soaps or scrubs. Now we have such a variety of seeds!
Silk is an amazing ingredient. The silk powder has been so popular but when you get to the final stages and remember it is still sitting on the counter and not in your batch (ACK!) the situation becomes more difficult. This is why we now offer silk in liquid form.
This form of silk is water soluble so add it with the water like ingredients.
For use in:
Usage rates are 1 to 5% in most products. We have seen formulary as high as 20%, however, we don't feel this is a typical usage.
Our silk powder is used in shampoos, lotions and other creations. Usage rates are from .05 to .2%. This cosmetic grade additive is clean and easy to blend into most cosmetic products. No need to grind yourself, no need to worry about dealing with broken (unclean) cocoons, no mess and no worry!
Sodium lactate is a natural humectant, moisturizer and pH regulator. For lotions replace the liquid glycerin with sodium lactate, in soaps use up to 1/2 ounce per lb of fats to harden the bar. Produced from renewable resources and completely biodegradable makes sodium lactate a better choice when moisturization is desired. Studies have shown sodium lactate to be a better short term and long term moisturizer than glycerin, our long loved friend. Try the tests for yourself. Make your favorite lotion twice, once with glycerin and once with sodium lactate. Apply the lotion to your leg or arm twice daily for 2 weeks. We are sure you will notice the difference. Sodium lactate is less sticky when compared to liquid glycerin so if you are trying to formulate to make a less sticky lotion use sodium lactate instead of glycerin. Sodium lactate 60% USP.
16 fl oz weigh approximately 1.4 lbs, 1 Gallon weighs approximately 10.85 lbs, 4 Gallons weigh approximately 43.4 lbs
Used in powders, cream soaps and shampoos, as well as in melt and pour soaps. Use from 1 to 3% as a first attempt. We found that we liked the lower rates better than higher rates. This product is even recommended to be used at 50%.
This much requested product is a sure fire way to boost sales of foaming milk bath, bath fizzies and more.
Squalene is a naturally occuring substance found in human skin. It is a natural moisturizer and lubicator of the skin. Our squalane is a natural cousin to squalene and is derived from olives and is 100% vegetable in origin.
Squalane is used in lotions to help moisturize the skin without a greasy feeling. A clear, colorless and odorless liquid for all your lotions! Try mixing it with your smoothest lotions that have cyclomethicone, dimethicone or similar items. This is an extraordinary lotion ingredient for the non-greasy lotions in your future.
Recommended usage is between 1 and 10%.
The following are approximate weights of the sizes available: 4 fl oz is 3.56 oz wt, 8 fl oz is 7.10 oz wt, 16 fl oz is 14.51 oz wt.

Our hydrolyzed wheat protein is an exceptional ingredient to add moisturization to lotions, creams and facial serums, it is also an excellent addition to shampoos, conditioners and body wash.
This liquid, with a medium amber color, has a mild, characteristic odor.
The hydrolyzed wheat protein provides amino acids and high glutamine levels which form films with good tactile properties (this means your skin and hair feels good). This product is useful for high quality formulations.
Approximate weights: 4 fl oz/0.32 lbs, 16 fl oz/1.10 lbs, 1 gallon/8.45 lbs.
Rosemary Oleoresin is a oil soluble antioxidant. This means it protects vulnerable oils from oxidation, which causes the smell of rancid oil. Use just like Vitamin E Acetate or Vitamin E Natural, in products which need or benefit from antioxidants.
This dark yellow green fluid has an herbaceous odor and is best suited for items where the scent is complementary. I love foot scrubs with peppermint, rosemary and eucalyptus essential oils and any fixed oil with Rosemary Oleoresin added. I am not the type to enjoy heavily scented foot creams so it isn't like these essential oils overpower the odor of the oleoresin.
We have had so many requests to carry this antioxidant and now it is available through our catalog. Enjoy!
Usage rates are 0.1 to 1% for antioxidant uses.
1 gallon weighs approximately 7.69 lbs.
Carnosic acid content 2%.

We have had many requests to offer a stronger version of the Rosemary Oleoresin, so now we do.
Usage rates are 0.05 to 0.5% for antioxidant uses. We have heard of doctors recommending this item for head lice treatment and the percentage of use, for this treatment, is undiluted. We aren't sure how effective this use is, but we have received more than one phone call stating "on doctor's orders" I want to purchase this item.

Vitamin E has long been used for its antioxidant properties in skin care products. Now you can add it to a lotion, cream or a fixed oil that you feel could benefit from this powerful antioxidant. Vitamin E Acetate is not a preservative (fights bacteria, yeast and mold) but it will help fight free radicals and extend the shelf life of an oil that seems to be a bit more unstable that you would desire. Usage rates are 1 to 5%.
The international units (IU) per gram is 980. Vitamin E Acetate is a synthetic Vitamin E and clear in color.
Our natural vitamin E is fabulous! A dark amber color and just waiting to be added to your creams, lotions and body butters for the anti-oxidant properties.
The international units (IU) per gram are 400. If you need an all natural product this is the Vitamin E to use. If you want a less expensive alternative use the Vitamin E Acetate.
Usage rate of the Vitamin E Natural is .1 to .25% (that is 1/10th to 1/4 of a percent).

This base is almost crystal clear. It has a very slight odor of a body wash. An unscented body wash would be just as nice as a scented one because the base has such a slight odor. The base is pretty thick for a body wash. We even tested it for fragrance thinning (which can happen with some fragrances or excessive use of any fragrance). We still loved the final viscosity. We expect you will like this option too. Enjoy!

Here is my quick Skin Frosting Scrub recipe: 9 oz wt Glycerin Scrub Base, 9 oz wt granulated white sugar, 1.8 mL fruity type fragrance like Paradise or Pixie Dust. Mix well. Add a drop or two of color if desired, add seeds, fiber or luffa if desired. Fills one 16 fl oz Deep Jar with Size 89 Cap. This mixture keeps the frosting appearance and always looks fresh made. The sugar does NOT settle to the bottom with a gooey layer on top like other recipes. This base is so easy and it makes everyone look like a professional scrub artist.
With this recipe in mind, it is best to calculate that about 18 ounces by weight will fill 16 fluid ounces in containers. This will translate into a gallon jug filling 2 gallons worth of jars.
Just before using this product gently rock the jug back and forth to make sure the base is completely mixed. Proceed with recipe. One final note, upon sitting overnight the scrub mixture you make will be a bit thicker.

This formulation is the firmest of all our Lip Solutions. If you live in a warm area and have trouble with any lip balm feeling grainy this is the base for you! The Vegan Lip Solutions was specifically formulated to reduce the risk of having a lip balm fractionate (become grainy). Isn't that the greatest?
These are premeasured and mixed. All you need to do is to melt and pour into lip balm tubes, lip balm jars or lip balm tins.

This butter is the thickest of all our bases. It is almost a salve like consistency. I still remember a coal tar salve my Grandma had that was solid and had to be worked into a pliable mixture. This butter isn't quite that firm but it does benefit from a little mixing after sitting in the jar a while. This butter is for the roughest of feet, elbows and hands. This butter has a viscosity rating of 455,000 centistokes! The butter is opaque and deeply moisturizing. The base is practically odorless so it is ready for scenting as you desire. It doesn't take much butter to soften away the roughest of dry skin. Do plan on using wide-mouth, shallow jars. You just won't believe how little is really needed!
I expect that most of your customers will appreciate a 1/3 or 1/2 oz jar to carry around. Very little butter is needed, I promise. You work the numbers. If 1 gallon is broken down into 1/2 oz jars and sold for $ 4 each, the butter cost is only $ 45 but the income is over $ 1,000! There are 128 fl ounces in a gallon if you need a little help. Try doing the math after your morning coffee. ;-)

You'll find no other product like this. Almost a gel, somewhat like a night cream, and certainly a treat for the skin, especially the face. Try adding your own extracts. See the Extracts section of our catalog to find many options for adding to this serum.
I like to make serums for my face, serums for my hands and serums for my elbows and knees. It seems that I like different extracts to be used on different parts of the body.
We HIGHLY recommend the use of a treatment pump for dispensing this material. This isn't the type of product that is slathered on by the ice cream scoopful. This is the type of product that is applied lightly and gently. Think of applying the amount of half a pea each time you apply. Most jars and bottles which sell a Line Prevention Serum do so in 1/2 oz to 2 oz jars. I have never seen anything larger than a 2 oz jar. Ever! The prices range from $ 18 to $ 200 per container, obviously depending on the brand name that is listed on the packaging.
Remember this: apply daily, apply sparingly, and apply with a velvety touch. Do not apply so much you could do the back stroke in this serum!
This is a special edition base. It will only be sold in 1 lb jars or in 1 oz sample bottles. If you will package the serum into 1 oz PET Cylinder Bottles with a Size 20 Treatment pump, your cost is $ 3.56 each. That is quite a profit margin if you sold each vial for $ 15 or more.
Compare this base to the Age Defying Serums from Lancome or Estee Lauder. We think you will find this serum to be of great quality and certainly enjoyable for personal use or a good profit if you sell your wares.
When ordering 3 or more samples at a time, the price will increase to $ 16 each. Samples are intended for testing purposes and not to be considered a packaged item for resale.

Potpourri is easily made and can be scented with any fragrance oil. The most simple of potpourri is just a bowl of botanicals with a drizzle of fragrance added. Enjoy!
We also use these bags in the potpourri pot. The bags make for easy removal of the botanicals when you are ready for a new scent!
Small bags are approximately 2.75 inches by 2.5 inches.
Jumbo bags are approximately 4 inches by 5.5 inches.
They are easily sealed with a household iron. Sold in packs of 50, 100 & 500. Bags are made from abaca fiber.
Photo Note: From left to right are the small bag (200-5643) and the jumbo back (200-7343).
Try a soap with lavender too, yet be prepared for whole buds to be VERY abrasive.
One gallon container holds .75 lbs of lavender buds.
Peppermint leaves are a fun addition to melt and pour soaps. You may wish to leave them whole for a more abrasive soap or grind them fine for a lightly speckled look. A refreshing scent!
One gallon container holds 1 lb of whole peppermint leaves.
Contains petals and heads. One gallon container holds .75 lbs.
You won't believe how easy it is! We could tell you the process is more simple than making ice but people think we are exagerating. Folks, really! We wouldn't lie. Soaps with Rose Hip Powder are simple, beautiful and extremely easy to make.
Enjoy!
Recommended vehicle for dispersing: glycerin.
Cold Process Soap: pink to red brown tones with flecks
Our ground apricot seed is a delight to use in soaps. Just a little goes a long way. Melt and pour soap can have speckles throughout with just a small amount of ground apricot seed. Our favorite is a soap with bentonite and apricot seed.
Blueberries are my favorite berries. While they don't grow well in our alkaline soils I still have a special fondness for these luscious drops of wonder. Tiny purple seeds are great in soaps or scrubs. Now we have such a variety of seeds!
A dry colorant should be mixed into a liquid before use. You can mix each colorant into water, glycerin or oil. Color listings will give the preferred vehicle for a carrier. Based on our tests we make these recommendations.
All the colors you find in this section of our catalog are a cosmetic grade. You can safely use these colors in your soaps, lotions and other cosmetics. We give recommendations where the color is suitable for use.
Some colors are mineral pigments and others are organic dyes. Pigments are usually dispersed in oil or glycerin. More colorant is needed when using pigments because pigments color by covering the original color of the product. The amount of white pigment in paint is the biggest difference between "one coat coverage" and multi-coat coverage paints.
Dyes color by imparting a color to other items. Easter eggs are colored by using dyes. You may even remember the colored counter tops, hands and clothes that were near the dye cups. Dyes are used sparingly. A single speck can color a 4 fl oz lotion with such intensity it cannot be used. Always dilute your powdered dyes before using them.
Each color is named after the color you will get when adding it to cold processed soap. The colors may not be the same when added to transparent soap base or other cosmetics.
You can vary the intensity by varying the usage rate.
One last note, the ingredients you use in soap can change how a color will appear. Be aware of how the fragrance and the color of your oils will appear without added colorant.
Always make a test batch first to determine how all ingredients will interact.
The kit comes with dropper bottles too! Just add 1/2 tsp of dry colorant into the bottle, top up with plain water, insert dropper tip then cap and shake well. When the dry powder is completely dissolved into the water then you are ready to color away!
These colors are not suitable for lip balm or massage oils.
The amount of color in this kit is able to color many gallons of Liquid Bases and many pounds of Melt and Pour Soap. It is a little goes a long way type of thing! Enjoy!
This pigment is very potent. We use very little when we make soaps. If used in a lotion the color is sometimes hard to disperse. To premix a large quantity add the whole 1/2 ounce jar to 16 oz liquid glycerin. We have packed our liquid glycerin in bottles with enough headspace to allow you to do this easily.
Recommended vehicle for dispersing: glycerin.

Use mica in body powders, body butters or melt and pour soaps. Body balms can give a slight shimmer to the skin if used intensely, or add a small amount of color to the balm to give visual appeal and indicate fragrance variety. Do not disperse in glycerin or water for body powders or body butters.
Cold Process Soap: disperse in glycerin before use. pale to midtone green color
Blue mica is more of a purple type blue and very pretty. We love this color in lip balm and in melt and pour soap.
Cold Process Soap: not suitable
Need to add shimmer but no color? Try the silver mica. Beautiful shimmer like snow flakes on a frosty morning.
Cold Process Soap: due to the opaque nature of soap it is not easily seen.

We offer two sizes of each color, Hobbyist and Professional. The Hobbyist size is in our Clear 1/4 ounce lip balm jar. The amount is enough to make brilliant colored lip sticks all year long! Don't be concerned about the appearance of the small size, this color is a powerhouse of intensity. The Professional size is 1 fl oz and will make so much tinted lip balm you could see it for miles! or you could make lip stick for customers all over your state! I know you are hesitant to believe me but it is an understatement to say a little goes a long way.
Try all the colors. I know you think it is silly to want a blue lip stick but blue is used to make reds cooler and darker, blue is also used with yellow to make green so here is the color for your Mint Julep lip balm! Black will deepen the colors and make them more muted. Yellow brightens and warms. Coral is the warm red and Ruby is the cool red. White makes the colors more opaque and brighter. So I guess I am saying, get the variety pack. You will be glad you did!
All of these colors come in liquid form. They are easy to use and mix with any oil formulation you have. We have even used them for sugar/salt scrubs and bath oils. Use them anywhere you have an oil formulation.

TJ wrote to us: How I Used Them: I have wooden stir sticks and all I did was insert one of the stir sticks into the color, just picked up a touch of it, and then swirled the stick into the oils - it was unbelievable how little I needed to achieve full color coverage
without it needing to be stirred forever
All of these colors are safe for use in the US for lipstick and lip balm. CI numbers and a full INCI name are supplied with each shipment.
These variety packs allow you to mix colors and have a wild and crazy time! And that is always cool when making lip balm.

We love the clear plastic bottles for our shampoos, gels and liquid soaps. They are so pretty. You may use any size 24 pump, spray head, dispensing top or non-dispensing top with this bottle so it is truly versatile. We have even had an afternoon of making body sprays and topped each bottle with a different colored spray head. They turned out great!
Bottles have a round, bullet-type shape.
Be sure to order a size 24 cap for these bottles. The 16 fl oz bottle should have a disk top only. Do not order a spray head or pump top for the 16 fl oz bottle. Thanks.

This tin is sold as a set of the base and the lid only.
These tins are lined with
a special coating that appears gold in color. This is far more suitable for lip balms than uncoated tins. These tins are 39mm in diameter, and 12mm in height.

We were so pleased to get the regular lip balm tray AND a tray for the slim stick tubes! Can you believe it?! If you would like a tutorial, then please go to Plastic Tom's Tutorial for assistance. Our photographer was in today taking pictures. I couldn't believe how fast we were able to make 50 tubes. Simple. Clean. And dishwasher safe.
Don't confuse these trays with those which are milled, these professional trays are injection molded of HDPE. A super class act!

Order the Slim Stick Tray for the Slim Stick tubes. To see our Slim Stick Tubes click here.
We have a couple of hints for users.
ATTENTION! Before you use this tray please look VERY closely at the tutorial. Specifically look at the picture that shows the first pour into the tray. There are three tubes that have been filled and the fourth tube is being filled in the photo. We want you to notice the cooled lip balm mixture around the top of the Pyrex container. Please stir your lip balm mixture until it develops a haze just like this photo. If you pour while the lip balm is still too hot then the tubes can be temporarily warped. When the warping happens the caps may not fit tightly. If you will cool the lip balm mixture until a haze develops the chances of warping the tubes is greatly decreased.
What happens if you have poured too hot? Well, we suggest placing the cap on the tube then fitting a shrink band over the tube and heat shrinking the band. This short period of heating will relax the plastic tube and allow it to go back to the original size.
UPDATE! We now have the tray for the oval lip balm tubes!
Use for cuticle oils, lip gloss, treatment gels and more! We think these are very universal containers. Each pen holds about 2 mL of product.
Caps and tubes are included in this set.
Use our regular size Lip Solutions and get about 110 tubes! We know that is the coolest!
The best label size is probably 1.75 inches wide by 1.25 inches tall.

Enjoy!
A dram is equal to 1/8th of a fluid ounce, or 3.7 mL.
Photo Note: Both the amber dram vial and the clear dram vial are shown in this photo.

These containers are definitely high end. We were thinking "presentation, presentation, presentation." Just add a label, ribbon, or hang tag. Stephanie asks, "Can you say tube-a-licious?"
Caps are included. Tubes are approximately 1-1/4 inches in diameter and 6 inches tall. Holds approximately 4 ounces of salt.
A shrink band is available for this container. To order Bath Salt Tube Shrink Bands click here.
The cap is a matte silver, not reflective like a mirror. The bottle is clear glass and rather tall. A simple set up for perfume, or anything else you want to roll on.
Bottle holds 12 mL. Enjoy!
We love the 2 oz size for purse, 4 oz for the desk and the 8 oz for the bath or night table.
Cap options are white only. The orifice is the opening from which the product is dispensed. The orifice opening is .187 inches in diameterWe have a PDF reference file so you can see this size, along with other container sizes.
These caps are like our original caps with the seal around the perimeter of the orifice opening, not inside it. We have also added a liner. This liner will not adhere to the bottle but is intended to prevent leakage into the cap when excess pressure is built up in the bottle. This pressure can be caused from temperature fluctuations or elevation changes. The liner is easily removed by the end user by removing the cap, pushing a pencil or pen through the opening, then lifting the foil liner away.
The frosted bottles allow you to see the color of the product so color away!
This has been a very fun project to work on and a long time in the works. We hope you enjoy our efforts!
Photo Note: The black closure has the .375 orifice and the white closure has the .187
orifice.
Shrink Band Information: Due to the shape of these bottles a shrink band is not available for the cap area. If a shrink band is needed the band will need to fit from the cap to the top of the bottle. Please email our specialrequests@thesage.com staff if you need the full bottle shrink band. A small strip label may be a better option for sealing the cap edge. Email our labels@thesage.com staff for assistance with labels.
We love the 2 oz size for purse, 4 oz for the desk and the 8 oz for the bath or night table.
Cap options now allow you to choose white or black. There is also an orifice choice to make. The orifice is the opening from which the product is dispensed. The small opening is .187 inches in diameter, the large opening is .375 inches in diameter. We have a PDF reference file so you can see these sizes, along with other container sizes. The small orifice is for lotions or creams, while the large is intended for scrubs, muds and super thick creams/salves.
These caps are like our original caps with the seal around the perimeter of the orifice opening, not inside it. Due to the internal shaping of the cap, a liner is not in, and is not available for, this cap.

We have even used these gorgeous atomizers with a light mint spray for a summer cooling spray. What a relief!
Stock is limited to quantity on hand.
Now you can do room sprays, body sprays, cleaning solutions and more! The complete package is ready for your product and decoration. Colorful labels would look great on a package like this.
The sprayers also have a ON or OFF setting to prevent accidental dispensing.
As with our other containers these will automatically discount at 300, 500, 1000 and 5000 pieces.
The gloves come in sizes 7, 8, 9 and 10.
This is how to size your gloves. Using a tape measure or a piece of string, measure around the thickest part of the hand between the thumb and forefinger, all the way around the palm, this is generally midway between the knuckle and inside base of the thumb. Using this measurement (in inches) select a glove size of 7, 8, 9 or 10.

603-2011 Detail:
The small dropper has a capacity of 3.5 mL, there are 5 mL in a teaspoon. Markings on the side will show each 1/2 mL increment.
The large dropper has a capacity of 7 to 8 mL. This pipette does not have graduation marks on the size to assist measuring. I use these for large bottles of fragrance or essential oil that I need to get to the last few ounces (small pipettes don't reach to the bottom and it isn't fun to fish out a pipette that was dropped inside!).
Pipettes are plastic and disposable. Both are very convenient and considered a must-have for the kitchen lab.
Photo Note: The Large pipettes are shown with a small pipette for contrast.
Please note that some essential oils can not be shipped by air, so please check with us before ordering if your order needs to travel by air.

Once known as West Indian Sandalwood, it is steam distilled from the wood of Amyris Balsamifera. Amyris essential oil is somewhat viscous, offering a warm-woody bottom note.
Blends well with lavandin, citronella and cedarwood.
If you find the warm, base note appealing in a lip balm or lip stick, this essential oil is FCC classified. FCC is Food Chemical Codex. We suggest making a test batch with 0.5% flavor added. Determine if this amount is suitable to you and increase, or decrease, for future batches.
Steam distilled product of Haiti.
Balsam Peru ranks on our Top 10 list hands down. Earthy, exotic and lingering all describe this woodsy-vanilla like scent. With just a little added to your lotions, creams and body sprays you will be in touch with your sensual side in no time! This is Professor Trelawney's favorite.
Steam distilled product of El Salvador.
Lip balm makers: We suggest making a test batch with 0.5% flavor added. Determine if this amount is suitable to you and increase, or decrease, for future batches.

Bergamot is an aristocrat in the citrus family. Fresh citrus combined with some fresh, fruity appeal. Definitely more exotic than your average citrus oils!
Blends well with sandalwood, ylang ylang, jasmine and cedarwood.
Cold pressed product of Italy.
Bergamot prices are very high right now. We have secured a small shipment to help tide over our customers. We are hoping for better pricing late in the summer. As soon as we can reduce the price of this essential oil we will.
Lip balm makers: We suggest making a test batch with 0.5% flavor added. Determine if this amount is suitable to you and increase, or decrease, for future batches.
Black pepper has a dry woody odor with a warm and spicy scent. Blends well with Fankincense, Myrrh, Sandalwood, Lavender, Rosemary, Bergamot, Lemon, Lemongrass, and more. Think of grinding fresh pepper, not to the point you sneeze, the fresh, warm aroma is similar to this oil.

Bourbon Geranium is "top notch" in the world of rose geranium essentials. Treat yourself to this unique, uplifting rose-like aroma. A great addition to your Gardener's Hand Salves. It blends well with ylang, ylang, lavender, and just about anything in the citrus family. This geranium is awesome as a stand-alone fragrance as well.
Steam distilled product of Madagascar.
A woodsy, balsamic and most earthy blend with just a touch of sweetness. Blend this one with grapefruit and sweet orange for an invigorating blend that has incredible holding power. If this blend sounds like a winner to you contact Steph for her "French Green Clay" Soap recipe. She claims it's an old family secret. We aren't buying it. You might have to twist her arm a little but, she's pretty easy to finagle most of the time. Maybe if enough people bug her she'll post it on the web site. Hint, Hint!
Steam distilled product of the USA.
Chinese star anise is back in our catalog after a long hiatus. Hunters, licorice lovers, herbalists and tea enthusiasts all seek out the smell of anise. Even people who love to fish use anise.
Fishing and hunting soaps are made with approximately 2% anise oil as the scent. We know you will enjoy the return of this product to our catalog.
Lip Balm Use
Please note that at cooler room temperatures this oil can solidify. If the bottle appears to contain white crystals then place the bottle in your pocket, or another warm place, for a few hours. The crystals will then melt and you can work with a fluid oil.
Steam distilled product of China.
Cinnamon is a better potpourri scent than a soap scent. The strong nature of cinnamon can be an irritant to the skin, so place your potpourri everywhere and scent your soap with something else. Cinnamon can also accelerate the trace of soap, in case you wondered. When blending with cinnamon we recommend clove, litsea cubeba and orange.
When used in lip balms this flavor is fun but it should also be used lightly! When getting this much bang for your buck you have to appreciate the flavors and essential oils that are a bit stronger than the average. I don't know about you, but I think getting more scent out of less oil use means a real cost savings!
We suggest making a test batch with 0.5% flavor added. Determine if this amount is suitable to you and increase, or decrease, for future batches.
Steam distilled product of Sri Lanka.
"You've come a long way, baby!" Citronella has moved well beyond insects and fleas. Its lemony, uplifting aroma makes citronella the ideal choice when blending that perfect outdoorsy scent. Some of our favorites for blending are sandalwood, patchouly, lemon, tangerine, and others. Try your hand at blending this versatile scent.
Steam distilled product of Java.

Clary Sage is an herbaceous essential oil and often used for its calming notes. A mellower sage than Dalmation, and certainly much softer in the overall throw of scent. If you like herbaceous scents (rosemary, eucalyptus, lavender, geranium) then you will certainly love this scent too. Great for pairing with other essential oils, and wonderful in soaps and hair care products.
The winter season always brings fresh clementines to the market. This oil smells like a fresh peeled clementine. Zippy, fresh, juicy, clean and clear. I find this citrus oil to be so comforting it almost seems too hard to describe.
Clove leaf is notorious for its holiday appeal. Spice cookies, wassail and a roaring fire are what this scent is all about. Clove can be an irritant to the skin so we recommend you use it in your holiday potpourri, or as an air freshener. Orange and clove are a great blend for room sprays.
Steam distilled product of Indonesia.

A herb with a long history of use, the seeds were found in the ancient Egyptian tomb of Rameses II. This pale yellow liquid has a sweet, woody, spicy slightly musky aroma. Blends well with clary sage, bergamot, jasmine, citronella, cinnamon and other spice oils. This item is FCC and can be used in lip balms. We suggest making a test batch with 0.5% added. Increase, or decrease, use with future batches as desired.

Lemon eucalyptus has been used in aromatherapy and personal care products for a long time. There are many species of eucalyptus and we now offer two, regular and lemon. If you have held eucalyptus from your collection of scents you should reconsider. Lemon eucalyptus has a clean scent and it is not as medicinal as regular eucalyptus.
You may have seen this oil listed as Eucaluptus Citriadora, but I can assure you the correct spelling is citriodora.
Enjoy!

Koalas love eucalyptus and so can you! It does have a medicinal smell, but imparts a warming sensation when applied to the skin. We recommend a tiny bit blended with spearmint for an awesome foot cream. Remember that a little goes a long way! Also blends well with lavender and lemongrass.
Steam distilled product of China.
Lip balm makers: We suggest making a test batch with 0.5% flavor added. Determine if this amount is suitable to you and increase, or decrease, for future batches.
Refreshment at its finest! If you are curious, our grapefruit essential oil is from Pink Grapefruits. Enjoy!
Body Use
Lip Balm Use
Use 0.3 to 1.5% in lip balm. For a batch of lip balm that makes 50 tubes (.15 ounces each) or 25 jars (.25 ounces each) use from 1 to 4 grams. This converts to approximately 1 to 4.5 milliliters if you would rather use a pipette. We generally like about 2 to 2.5 mL.
Cold pressed product of the USA.
This oil is clean, fresh and herbaceous essential oil. Juniper has a quick sharpness that is characteristic of the oil, similar to rosemary or eucalyptus. The oil however has a woody note like cedar and a long lasting fresh scent.
A little goes a long way with this oil when it comes to soaps, shampoos and conditioners.
A twist on lavender essential oil, the most requested essential oil of all! Lavandin is a hybrid lavender plant. It is not the same, since Lavandula Angustifolia is the officinalis. A unique rendition. Linalool content is over 30%, linalyl acetate content is over 40%. Use anywhere you would use lavender, and also for blending. A great essential oil.
We now have a Bulgarian Lavender just for our customers.
If you are looking for a lavender that is not blended, such as the 40/42, then the angustifolia lavender is what you want. Enjoy!
Steam distilled product of Bulgaria.
Lip balm makers: We suggest making a test batch with 0.5% flavor added. Determine if this amount is suitable to you and increase, or decrease, for future batches.
We apologize for the current pricing, but there is currently a lavender shortage.
When the crop yields increase we expect significant price reductions. We are watching this situation closely to bring good value to our catalog. Thank you for your
understanding.
Lavender has been at home in the perfuming industry for centuries. This timeless classic is one of the most versatile of its kind. Endless blending options leave this scent at the top of our most requested list. Blends well with peppermint, rosemary and a touch of lemon.
Use in foot creams, soaps and lotions. A very popular essential oil.
Lip balm makers: We suggest making a test batch with 0.5% flavor added. Determine if this amount is suitable to you and increase, or decrease, for future batches.
Steam distilled product of the USA.
Think of lemon drops, intense lemony aroma and flavor. Lemon with a tangy freshness not matched by other lemons. When we tested all the lemon flavors this was voted a top favorite by all the staff, not just our Albus Dumbledore fans.

A balance of light, clean, and fresh all rolled into one perfect package. This lemon is very top note, more rounded, and somewhat sweeter than the Argentina. Blends well with lime, eucalyptus, grapefruit and almost everything!
Lip Balm Use
Use at a rate of 0.5 to 1.5%. For a batch of lip balm that makes 50 tubes (.15 ounces each) or 25 jars (.25 ounces each) use from 1 to 4 grams. This converts to approximately 1 to 4.5 milliliters if you would rather use a pipette.
Cold pressed product of the USA.
Lemongrass has been an all time favorite of soapmakers as long as we can remember! This stimulating yet earthy lemon scent is a great choice for soaps meant to lift the spirits and awake the senses. Blending recommendations include: geranium, grapefruit, ylang ylang and lavender.
Steam distilled product of Guatemala.
This is the "hidden treasure" of the citrus family. Stimulate your mind and excite your senses. A lemon lime combo is a favorite in our neck of the woods. AAHHH!
Steam distilled.
If you are thinking about which lime to try you should seriously consider the expressed. While it is a bit more expensive, the fresh notes are really worth it. Better yet, do a smell test by trying them both side to side.
For room sprays, try up to 5%. For aromatherapy diffusers, use according to the manufacturer's directions for the diffuser you have.
This scent is bright and cheerful. I am sure any citrus lover will really enjoy this oil.
Litsea cubeba is an herbally, lemon scent and a must have for all soapmakers. Add a little "sunshine" to your soap pot today! Litsea cubeba is an anchoring scent and blends well with Sandalwood, Patchouly, White Sage and Stress-Free Fragrance oils.
Steam distilled product of China.
Our wild Spanish Marjoram is a new essential oil to our line. The herbaceous scent is great for the natural soaps that are so popular.
This steam distilled oil has a spicy, herbal aroma. Much like Vapo-Rub on a stick. The oil is a pale yellow to colorless liquid.
Blends with: lavender, rosemary, bergamot, chamomile, cypress, cedarwood, nutmeg, tea tree, ylang ylang and eucalyptus.
Product of Spain
This vanilla is wonderful! To keep the cost down a 35-Fold Vanilla is infused into fractionated coconut oil and contains other natural flavors as well. This product is oil soluble so you can make your lip balms with a fabulous real vanilla flavor. The color is clear to yellow liquid and is perfect for the natural market. Vanilla is intoxicating and delicious on its own but I can't wait to put it in lip gloss. Yummy!
Due to the delicate nature of the vanilla orchid smell we do not recommend this item for soap making. We suggest it for massage oils, lip balms, body butters and other all oil mixtures.
Lip Balm Use
An orange flower distillation, a top note of blossoms, their nectar and pollen and the uplifting odor of oranges. Not sharp and fleeting like orange peel, but a softer orange odor. Used in many applications of perfumery and, certainly not to be overlooked, in aromatherapy. A great product with limited availability.
Please use lightly. Creams, lotions, and serums benefit from this oil when used at a very low rate. Excessive use is likely to be too strong and overpowering.
Orange essential just got 5 times better! This concentrated essential oil is fabulous for flavoring, soaping and even making your own perfume blends. We tested a lot of orange oil products and this one was top rated. Yummy!
Lip Balm Use
Steam distilled product of the USA.
Orange essential oil is probably my most favorite because it has so many uses. Orange is used in many products for its light, refreshing scent. Orange, like other citrus oils, is a very volatile top note. Top notes evaporate faster than other fragrances and are often used at a higher rates. Use gloves when working with orange oil because it is a very effective solvent. Orange is also a unverisal blending scentwhich mixes with just about everything!
Lip Balm Use
Use at a rate of 0.5 to 1.5%.
Cold pressed product of Brazil.
Valencia oranges are the most often used varitey for juicing. They are thin skinned (peel) and offer the taste most people associate with oranges. Fabulous scent!
Lip Balm Use
Cold pressed product of the USA.
A strong, exotic, earthy scent with just a touch of spice. Combine with a little sandalwood and jasmine to create a little "flower power" of your own.
Steam distilled product of Indonesia.
Please note: Current shortages of patchouly have caused the prices to skyrocket. We have a good patchouly fragrance oil if you need a cost effective alternative. Please see the Fragrance Oil section for details.
As soon as global prices come down we will reduce our prices too. Thank you for your understanding.
Have you ever tried peppermint soap? You will be surprised at how invigorating and enjoyable the scent can be. Most people like to combine it with cocoa butter and chocolate (yes, real chocolate in soap) to give a chocolate mint soap. Peppermint will give a tingle to the skin if used in large amounts, so use sparingly.
Lip Balm Use
Use at a rate of 0.3 to 1.0%. For a batch of lip balm that makes 50 tubes (.15 ounces each) or 25 jars (.25 ounces each) use from 1 to 3 grams. This converts to approximately 1 to 3 milliliters if you would rather use a pipette. We generally do not recommend more than 2 mL in this amount of lip balm.
Steam distilled product of the USA.
You might be asking what the difference is between our regular peppermint and the Williamette Valley peppermint. Well, here is the answer: the Williamette Valley peppermint oil smells a bit greener than our regular version. Both are grown in the USA and work well in soap and lip balms.
Body Use
Peppermint will give a tingle to the skin if used in large amounts, so use sparingly.
Lip Balm Use
A common cooking herb and an uncommon scent. Rosemary has been used for years in mens products and has a slight medicinal scent. I love it in a shaving soap and so do most men. Usage rate is 1 fl oz per 6 to 8 lbs of fat. Aromatherapists recommend rosemary be avoided by pregnant women and those with epilepsy.
Lip balm makers: We suggest making a test batch with 0.5% flavor added. Determine if this amount is suitable to you and increase, or decrease, for future batches.
Steam distilled product of Spain.
This product will arrive in most cool locations as a crystallized material, often noted as congealing point.
Don't worry. The oil will be liquid at 83 degrees F or higher. Need it ready right away? Put the bottle in
your hand or pocket. The crystals will melt readily and you will feel like royalty!
Sizes are limited to 1 gram increments only. This is a special offer and does not have great gobs of stock. Don't wait! The oil will be gone before you know it, and new stock is not expected to be available for many more months.
Due to the cost of this item we suggest use in salves, balms, creams and similar products. This item is potent and will not be used at the same rates as most fragrance oils or essential oils. Use lightly! The fragrance carries and lasts!
This oil may even be used as a flavor (please use lightly!) in a lip balm. My favorite lip balm ever has rose as the flavor. Move over Chanel!
Cheers!
A new essential to our line. We have been asked so many times why we don't offer sage oil, especially when you consider our name. Well, now you have have sage oil!
An herbal scent like none other.
Enjoy!
Steam distilled product of Croatia.
This oil is FCC and can be used in lip balms (Food Chemical Codex).
Steam distilled product of Russia.
Spearmint is Tina's favorite mint. It is cool like peppermint but not as sharp. A nice refreshing scent for a room spray or a soap. Spearmint is commonly used in consumer products. Most will recognize this scent. If you want a fresh mint this is it! Usage for cold process soap is 1 fl oz to 6 lbs of fat.
We generally do not recommend using more than 2 mL in this amount of lip balm.
Steam distilled product of the USA.
Tangerine is an energizing citrus, it adds a lightly sweet yet tangy appeal to any application. Try tangerine with a little Stress-Free and lavender for a most harmonious blend.
Cold pressed product of Brazil.
We remember this one for its nostril clearing abilities. No kidding! We had numerous requests for Tea Tree Essential Oil so we decided to add it to our line. Many folks know this scent by its botanical name, melaleuca. A unique scent with a great history and lore. Recommended usage for soap is 1 fl oz to 6 to 8 lbs of fat.
Lip balm makers: We suggest making a test batch with 0.5% flavor added. Determine if this amount is suitable to you and increase, or decrease, for future batches.
Steam distilled product of Australia.
The lab just brought me samples of hair conditioner, bubble bath, sugar scrub, body milk (all MMS Bases) scented with this vanilla. The products are a warm tan and smell yummy! Best of all we scented a full gallon of Body Cream Base with a single 5 mL bottle of Vanilla Oleoresin.
Wintergreen is very universal. The odor is minty but unlike peppermint. It is fresh and crisp but unlike spearmint. Wintergreen is brisk and bright but unlike citrus oils. Wintergreen is really unique. Once you smell wintergreen you will recognize it all over the place.
This oil is suitable for lip balms. Please use wintergreen in lip balms at a rate of 0.1% to 0.5%. This is a potent flavor!
Enjoy!
Say it "lang-lang" and you will be considered a pro! This sweet, exotic, sensual floral is a must have. Some swear by its aphrodisiac properties. Mix up a little and see what you might reel in! Blends great with jasmine, lavender, sandalwood and rose.
Steam distilled product of Indonesia.
We are sorry, the current prices of Ylang Ylang are very high. When the prices on the commodity market come down we will reduce our price too. Thank you for your understanding.

Calendula had long been noted for its anti-inflammatory properties. Calendula is also suggested to combat rough, scaly and dry skin. This soft yellow oil (with a warm, herbaceous scent ) is perfect for skin creams, massage oils, and cosmetics. Perfect for sun care and baby skin. Use at the rate of 1 to 10% in most applications. The MMS Calendula Oil is made from high quality extracts without foreign particles or sludge plant products. This extract, along with essential oil, is combined with a pure soybean oil to obtain the highest quality ingredients available. This oil was tested in a Repeat Insult Patch Test which indicates no irritation potential, even when used at full strength. We know you will love using calendula oil in your creams and lotions. Don't forget elbow creams and cuticle treatments!
I have noticed other vendors selling calendula oil and the price is out of this world. We have the best quality available and are offering this oil at a fabulous price. Create away!

Glycerin Scrub Base

I almost couldn't believe this new base. Would you like to be the Queen of Scrubs? the King of Exfoliants? Well, now you can! This base is the lather, conditioners and foundation to all great scrubs. Just add your salt or sugar (even in volume if you prefer!) and mix well. Add color, fragrance, seeds and more depending on your preferences. We mixed sugar and this base, added a drop or two of Purple Raspberry color and raspberry seeds to get the best scrub ever. We did the highly UN-technical method of adding sugar just until it looked right. To repeat your scrubs with perfection we suggest you weigh the ingredients. Pack the scrub into cute jars or tubs and label! So simple, so creative and so fast!

Hair Care

After Swim Hair Conditioner
This special hair conditioner is a great daily hair conditioner. The conditioner is good for treating the hair before entering the pool, and a good followup after the pool. The conditioner is not too heavy, so it works well for daily swimmers.
Conditioner, Deep Hair Conditioner Base

Our deep conditioning base is perfect for all hair types that need an extra kick in silkiness. This base is a translucent, almost gel like appearance with powerful conditioners to help detangle hair and prevent dryness. I took some of this conditioner home and my family loved it, even those that prefer a ligh cream rinse instead of heavy conditioning. Scent as desired, we generally use up to 1 fl oz of fragrance when using something like a fruit fragrance oil, obviously heavy scents and strong essential oils (like peppermint) would be used at a much lower rate. Enjoy!
Economy Hair Conditioner
Our Econony Hair Conditioner was created to be a daily type of deep conditioner with the added economy of low cost. Conditioners can be quite expensive to produce and this product has a great value for the bed and breakfast, small hotel or gift basket business. These 5 gallon pails are best for the production shop since the economy would be lost in smaller sizes. This is a great time to take your business to the next level. Enjoy!
Shampoo, Daily Shampoo Base

We have been asked for some paraben free bases. This butter is just one of our new bases to follow this line. While we believe that parabens are safely used in cosmetics, we do understand there are times when a paraben free choice is appreciated.
Body Cream Base

MSDS
Our body cream base is super thick! It comes in a wide mouth pail so you can scoop the cream easily. Rough knees and elbows are a thing of the past! Before you worry about what container to use for this ultra thick cream let me suggest a jar (any size but you will prefer a wider than taller jar) and our Grand Oval bottles. The Grand Ovals sit on their cap so dispensing is easy.
Body Milk Base

Recipes
MSDS
Our new lotion is a body milk type and even has milk protein! This smooth and creamy base is waiting for your fragrance and color. Lotions are simple to make and beautiful to give.
Economy Lotion Base

Our Econony Lotion Base was created to be an all over body lotion. The lotion was initially produced for a hotel which offered spa products to their guests. This product has a great value for the bed and breakfast, hotel or gift basket business. These 5 gallon pails are best for the production shop since the economy would be lost in smaller sizes. This is a great time to take your business to the next level. Enjoy!

Line Prevention Serum
You may have tried the serums in all of the premium cosmetic lines. You may have even bought the material for yourself. These small bottles cost a fortune and are a nice, light, velvety mixture intended to help ease lines and wrinkles before they form too deeply on the skin.

Our lavender buds are a more purple color than most. They are naturally more brilliant and do not contain added colors. Lip Balm Colors, Oil Soluble
These colors are so powerful! I was very surprised by the ease of use when we were making lip balm with these colors. For a full jar of Lip Solutions I used the amount of a small grain of rice and could immediately see the color change!

I used the yellow to make a Vanilla flavored lip balm brighter in color. I know beeswax, candelilla and carnauba waxes all add a yellow color but it is pale when the lip balm is smooth and not too waxey. So, yellow color to the rescue! We made Mint Julep with a little yellow and a little blue. We added coral and yellow to make a pale peach. What a good blender!

Bottles Size 20
2 oz PET Bottles
Size 20

These bottles are so nice for sprays or lotions. This bottle style is known as a "Boston Round". A small size is great for perfumes/body sprays or for travel size of lotions. A great way to use color without needing to color your product.
These bottles are not real squeezable and we recommend that you use either a plain top, treatment pump or spray top.
1 fl oz Bottle Clear PET Cylinder
Size 20

This 1 fl oz size bottle is great for personal sprays or lotions. They are not squeezable so don't pair with a disk top.
1 oz LDPE Bottles
Size 20

These baby bottles are related to our 2 oz MDPE bottles (the 2 oz bottles are available in size 20).
A very cute way to carry a bit of lotion in your purse or to send as samples of your products.
2 oz MDPE Bottles
Size 20

These 2 oz MDPE bottles are very squeezable. We love them with dispenser caps or spray tops. Just cut the tube length of the spray top so it will fit this bottle. Remember that the caps must be ordered separately. If you need help just ask!
Closures, Size 20
Spray Head Closure Regular Tube
Size 20

Add a spray head to a smaller bottle and away you go with a room spray or body refresher spray.
Disk Top Closures
Size 20

These caps fit any of the size 20 bottles. We suggest using them on the squeezable 2 oz MDPE bottles but not the 2 oz PET bottles. The PET plastic isn't nearly as squeezable as we think it should be for this type of closure, we suggest using a pump instead.
Non-Dispensing Cap
Size 20

The size 20 bottles you order just might need to have a non-dispensing cap. The caps help for items just to thick to come out of a disk top, sprayer or pump.

Disk Top Closures

A disk top type closure is one where pressing on one side of the top of the cap will raise the other side slightly. You have seen these in many places. They are far more useful and beautiful than a flip-top cap.
Non-Dispensing Cap
Size 24

When you need a cap that doesn't dispense, where do you go? HERE! Not all products need a non-dispensing cap but it sure is nice to have one when you need it. Great for bath oils and similar products.

Lip Balm Filling Tray

OK, the deadline draws near and you still have to make the lip balm! Not to worry, this tray will rescue your behind from the proverbial hot spot. And don't just take our word on these trays. In the first 2 weeks we had 60 trays go to good homes. These trays helpd their owners in major lip balm production! We hear great comments about these trays daily.
1) Pour the lip balm mixture as cool as possible. The tubes can become mis-shapen if the lip balm mix is super hot. Use our quick test to determine if your lip mixture is ready: stir the mixture with a pipette, hold the pipette horizontal after stirring, if the pipette bends downward then the mixture is WAY too hot. If the pipette holds it's rigid form and the mixture is still clear then the mixture is at perfect pouring temperature.
2) Load the tray with tubes just before filling. Long term storage of tubes held in the tray can cause temporary distortion of the tubes. To return tubes to their original shape, remove them from the tray and allow them to sit without their caps for a few days.
3) Allow the filled tubes to fully cool before removing from the tray. This may take a hour depending on the temperatures of the lip balm mixture and the room where you are working. Then, when the tubes are cool, give the tube a twist just before pulling straight out. The lip balm mixture at the top of the tube (the glorious crown!) can be damaged if the lip balm is too soft when removed from the tray. Patience is certainly an asset in this case.
Lip Brush Pens

Recipes
Our last lip brushes were so popular that we had to reorder! We have made a few improvements on the last pen. This time there is no color to detract from your label. We have also changed how the brush is inserted into the stick portion of the Lip Brush Pen. The brush mechanism is now a single piece that just pushes in to complete the seal. Customers may twist off the cap or pull off the cap and now the collar can not fractured due to improper removal of the cap. Overall this new pen brings all the fun features you loved in the last pen and fixes all the issues related to the last design. We are sure you will love this new, improved pen much better.
Slim Stick Tubes

Our slim style tube for all your lip balm! The tube holds 0.07 ounces, or approximately 2 grams. The tubes are about 3 inches in height and just shy of 0.5 inch in diameter.

Equipment
Gloves, Protective

Recipes
Gloves are necessary to protect your hands from splatters. Ours are made from latex coated with Nitril. You can wash them in the washing machine and hang them upside-down to dry.
Helpful hint: Fold a small cuff at the open end of each glove to prevent drips running to your elbow.
Goggles

Recipes
Goggles are a MUST HAVE item. Do not attempt to make soap without protecting your eyes. One little splash will be one too many without protection. Our goggles cover the eyes completely with side vents to minimize fogging. They are large enough to cover most eye glasses. Our goggles also have an anti-fog film so their continued use is comfortable and enjoyable.

Soap Buckets

As long as you are dedicating your tools to soapmaking, why not get a container that is just right for the job? You will no longer have to rob your kitchen for the perfect pot. The 87 oz bucket works nice for one or two pound fat batches. If you want to try your hand at something larger, use a 1, 2 or 3½ gallon size. The 1, 2 and 3½ gallon sizes all have wire handles for easy carrying. These are great for storing oils and clays too! Lids included. In our shop we will even put the 1 and 2 gallon buckets in the microwave, just make sure the handle will have at least 2 inches of clearance from any side of the oven. The 2 inches of clearance will prevent arcing.

Everyone needs a good soap spoon. Our spoon has an open center and can really get the contents of your soap pot moving. The spoon won't turn wimpy when you stir hot oils either! Thermometers

Recipes
When I first started making soap I used a candy thermometer to check the temperature of my lye. I then dunked the thermometer into my oils. The numbers came off and were floating in my soap batch! This sent me looking for a new candy thermometer and a new soap thermometer. That is when I found these workhorse tools! I love the small size, easy to read button dial and the protective sleeve! I can take my thermometer with me in my pocket and not get a puncture wound. I am sure you will love having a nice stainless steel thermometer too, unless of course you want to make number soap!
The temperature range is 0° to 220° F. Stem length is 4-3/4 inches, dial face is approximately 1 inch in diameter.
